The Mere Way to Landbeach
The attractively-named 'Butt Lane', which runs from the Milton Park & Ride to Impington, past the Landfill/Waste Recycling centre, may not be the first place you'd look for dog-walking opportunities.
But in fact there are some very pleasant paths and bridleways between fields and through young woods here, and at the right time of the year the colours of the leaves can be dramatic.
If you leave the A14 on the A10, heading north towards Ely, you will immediate come to the Park & Ride on your left, and just after it, take the left turn to Impington. Follow it past the Recycling Centre and you'll find a public bridleway which crosses the road shortly afterwards. There was plenty of space to park on either side. I took the right-hand section, heading north-east towards Landbeach. It's a wide and straight path, initially between commercial orchards, which will eventually become Akerman Street and take you almost straight to Landbeach in about a mile and a half.
But a little way along it there's a left turn which will allow you to do a circular route through some new wood plantations and come back down the bridleway ahead of you. You can see the paths here on OpenStreetMap.
From where I parked the car, the full circular route is probably about 3.5 miles. I met only one other person, also walking dogs, and collecting sloes to make gin...
